EVA achieves its aims through:

Advocacy and support

  • Keeping members informed about issues and plans for the villages.

  • Consulting with the community and community groups in identifying issues and concerns.

  • Seeking ideas and solutions from residents.

  • Representing the views of the community.

  • Staying abreast of development plans which affect the heritage and character of the villages.

Strengthening the community

  • Welcoming newcomers to the villages

  • Initiating and supporting community projects.

  • Fundraising for community projects.

  • Promoting and assisting other advocacy and community groups and events.

  • Hosting the popular Exeter Monthly Markets - 1st Saturday each month at Exeter Park.

  • Lobbying local, State and Federal governments on issues which can include:

    • Safety of our children and residents through traffic management and infrastructure improvements.

    • Effective mobile phone coverage.

    • Ensuring transport meets community needs.

    • Provision and maintenance of sporting facilities.

  • Interpreting and relaying information to the residents on matters which affect the community.

  • Supporting local businesses.

  • Communicating to members and the village communities through the:

    • Website

    • Monthly e-newsletters

    • Social media

    • Community noticeboard.

Preserving the ambience, heritage and beauty of our villages and surrounds.

With the support of our members, we seek a Heritage Conservation Area for Exeter Village and immediate surrounds.

In July 2024 EVA submitted a request to Council for an Exeter Landscape Conservation Area to support and surround the proposed Exeter HCA. Document and map accessible here.

In May 2025 WSC announced a whole re-write of all 17 Development Control Plans (DCP) for the Shire and are seeking input from the public. Here is the current Exeter DCP.
